Creating a life online for a new, vibrant make-up brush brand.


Founded in 2015, Brushwork is a make-up brush brand whose aim is to use Japanese aesthetics and quality to produce make-up tools for amateur and professional make-up enthusiasts. During the final stage of product and packaging design, Brushwork started to look for a studio to develop their art direction and website: "Mandala Studio was our first preference with a sleek and modern design style" (Chanikarn Benjasiri – Co-founder, Brushwork).


Mandala Studio was trusted to create a complete art direction for Brushwork – from product photography, through marketing style through to the design direction of the website. The Brushwork team were keen to maximise on a cool, minimal style, appealing to an international audience. We provided initial consultancy on the product and packaging design. It was important that the brand and packaging was finalised in order to be expanded to photography and website design.


In order to achieve a premium brand image showing off high-quality products and to make a splash in the market, we went for images that were bold and impactful. We worked closely with photographer Surachai Saengsuwan to create striking imagery, using contextual backgrounds, strong colours and textures but no models. This imagery was used for the website as well as for social media channels. As an online-only sales brand, the site is built on the Magento shopping framework, targeted at an international customer base with simplicity of use.


The outcome of our collaboration with Brushwork is a luxurious, vibrant and style-driven website utilising product photography to the maximum. After an invite-only launch workshop with the Brushwork team, the website has launched officially in June 2016 to much anticipation with Brushwork products already garnering reviews and attention from international cosmetics media.
